Yu Yu Hakusho is a great anime but…

Yu Yu Hakusho is undoubtedly one of my top 5 favorite anime of all time. However, I feel it could have been even better if it had more spirit detective missions. Don’t get me wrong. I really enjoyed the Dark Tournament and Three Kings arcs but I would have loved to see more stories featuring Yusuke and the gang tackling spirit detective cases. I’m especially interested in episodes where Yusuke and Kuwabara go on assignments to capture lesser demons or investigating paranormal anomalies.
Despite their opinions of each other, these two make a great team. They compliment each other really as demonstrated when they first “defeated” Younger Toguro during Yukina’s rescue. Yusuke firing a Spirit Gun at Kuwabara’s back while he clutched his Spirit Sword to give him enough speed to catch Toguro off-guard and stab him through the chest was a truly unforgettable scene. I think we needed more of those combos.
The 25th Anniversary OVAs were really incredibly fun to watch. It made me want a Yu Yu Hakusho remake. If that happens, I do hope we get more spirit detective arcs. Fingers crossed!
