Targets Acquired: The Missing Pieces to my Marvel Legends X-Men Collection!

Back in the early 90s, ABS-CBN, also known as Channel 2 had the best toy-based cartoons. We had classics like The Real Ghostbusters and the OG Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles every Friday night. Eventually, Channel 2 also aired the original X-Men: The Animated Series and I instantly became a fan. Still am after all these years.

X-Men was one of the shows that me and my siblings watched religiously. This was a quite a feat back then since it aired on Friday nights and there were instances we missed episodes due to frequent power outages. Yup, that was common then. Nevertheless, the first two episodes were enough to get us hooked not just on the show, but on the entire franchise itself.

What truly stuck with me was the end credits, featuring a 3D render of each X-Men member set to a rocking electric guitar track. It was one of the earliest times I’ve seen “realistic” 3D models, and seven year old me thought they looked like badass action figures. This sparked my desire to collect my own X-Men action figures. For a long time, this was just a dream for me since we couldn’t afford the ToyBiz figures then.

Fast forward to now, I have finally completed the Hasbro Marvel Legends X-Men roster I aimed to collect years ago. I focused on the iconic 90s Jim Lee era teams. I had each member of the Blue Team, Gold Team, X-Force, X-Factor and Excalibur on my checklist. Last Christmas, the Waifu gifted me with the last 2 pieces I’m missing from my collection: Feral (X-Force) and Rachel Summers (Excalibur). As a bonus, I got myself the recently release Iceman from the Secret Wars wave. Absolutely awesome! I imagine this would make seven year old me giddy.

Hasbro really took their sweet time releasing these figs but I have to say, the sense of fulfillment is worth the wait. I can finally scratch one toy line off my list. I’ll be featuring these figs in the blog’s “Figure Feature” section soon. Stay tuned, folks!
